I did a 1 hour Asteroids dev challenge.
so, I know I haven't posted on here in awhile, hopefully I can keep that from happening more. Anyway, I've recently pulled myself back to working on stuff. I've been making slow notches on a remaster of Alec Sketchman, but my friend challenged me to do a 1 hour asteroids build. here's the result. http://nucleartimepiecegc.com/HTML5/oneHourAsteroids let me know what you think!
I'm interested in doing more x hour dev challenges. if you have any suggestions, please feel free to leave a comment and I'll consider it. I'd really like to start a stream. part of this is about developing my skill to stay focused on devving in burst of time, instead of hours of staring at my computer doing nothing. I'd also like to make more practice of using the skills I already possess. It would be super cool to start a little twitch channel where I actually do this kind of thing regularly (once a week maybe).
Anyway, I'm out for now. I'm working on getting my life in order, and I'm hoping to get more experience on different types of games. wish me luck!

Where's the programming?
So, I haven't really posted much on here lately, and that's really quite silly. I've been working on a few things lately. I'm looking into developing FPS games in Unity3D. I've also just been messing around with little code bits, and reading up on game design.
For those of you who would like to see some examples of games that I've worked on, you can check out my official site, nucleartimepiecegc.com, in addition, I have some old works on newgrounds.com. Also, you can check out this one game I worked on for a friend's college graphic design course here. lastly, a couple of examples of current projects (in very early alpha stages) can be found here, here, here (some of the things on these links may change over time)
if you want to talk to me about any of my works, you're welcome to email me at nucleartimepiecegc@gmail.com, or pop on over to my channel on IRC freenode.net #njgamemakers, or just go to myIRC page and give me a shout, I'm boredDev

Working on some new meshes in blender. My friend is working on a new game design. He's gotten pretty far and it looks pretty awesome. So's anyway, I'm trying to make some extra models for his game. hopefully, this goes well. for now, he's a look at some of the models. May add some more to this post later.

Working on a sample character model
I've been trying to get a grasp on character modelling for 3D games. I have an idea that I'd love to eventually make, but I know there are a lot of things to learn between here and there. So right now I'm working on a Chibi style character model, using Blender. At the time of this posting, the character model is riddled with imperfections, but the 3D model might be updated over time. Anyways, check it out :D

Learning to do 3D modelling
I've recently found an interest in Unity3D. In discovering this interest, I found that I really wanted to learn how to use Blender, so I could create at least filler models for any games that I may develop. Shortly after I began doing this, my friend acquired a 3D printer with the intention to print models for a tabletop game he developed called Crit's Creatures. Sadly I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but what I know of it requires a game unique battle mat minis and some creature cards that define how each creature acts uniquely.
Back on topic, I've been making some 3D models for him to print for minis for his game. granted these are rather simple on the computer, but they'll be painted once they've been printed. So here are some of the models I've been working on. Bare with me, I'm new at this.
Welcome to my design and dev portfolio blog!
Greetings! My name is Timothy Haines, and this is my portfolio blog. I've been on and off working on game design and development for the last 7 years. To date I have released a game called "Alec Sketchman" on the Google Play Store, and featured a few small games and videos on newgrounds.com.
Most of my skill development up until now has been about becoming familiar and adaptive with a variety of graphics and developing softwares. I've worked with Adobe Flash, Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, and I've also worked with Unity3D, Eclipse, Blender, InkScape, Spriter, and YoYoGames GameMaker Studio. I've also programmed in AS 2.0-3.0, Java for android, C# for Unity Scripts, C++ using Dark GDK, GML for GameMaker, and I've worked briefly with PHP for handling MySQL databases.
I have 1000s of archived files on my personal hard drive full of miscellaneous code snippets and ideas. At this juncture in my life, I'm interested in finding a place with a team of artists, designers, programmers, and developers to turn my never ending passion for game development in a full fledged career. To work towards that goal, I have started this blog site where I will be displaying my works for all to see. I will include graphics, code snippets, and even some playable demos and prototypes.
If any of my work has caught your attention and you're interested in having me on your team, please feel free to contact me at thaines1087@gmail.com. I hope you enjoy what I have to show :)
